Portmahomack is approximately 1 hours north of Inverness. It is an ideal base for exploring the Northern Highlands and the West Coast of Scotland.
The village itself offers a lovely beach, the famous Tarbet Ness Discovery Center, site of one of the largest Pictish Excavation int he last 20 years. The 9 hole golf course welcomes visitors.
Target Ness Lighthouse is a short drive or 2 mile hike away. It is the tallest still functioning lighthouse in Scotland. From here you have spectacular views both to the North and South and often see dolphins along the shore.
Portmahomack boast the lowest annual rainfall figures in all of Scotland. So, while sunshine and dry weather are not guaranteed, there is a good chance of nice weather and spectacular sunsets.
